Moby: “La musica pop è terribile”

Moby, DJ e produttore statunitense, ha pubblicato un lungo sfogo su Instagram sotto a un’immagine che riporta, come concetto: “La musica pop è terribile”. Il musicista, infatti, sostiene che la maggior parte della musica di quel genere è “superficiale e banale”.

“Chi dovrebbe ascoltare un ragazzo di mezza età lamentarsi dello stato della musica pop, giusto? Ma, con questo avvertimento, lasciatemi affermare che dal mio punto di vista la musica pop è mostruosamente terribile. Ogni tanto una fetta di genio affascinante emerge, come Love di @kendricklamar, ma nella maggior parte dei casi, la musica pop è superficiale, banale e irrecuperabile. Non c’è niente di sbagliato nella canzone pop occasionale, ma quando il 99,9% della musica pop è assolutamente a buon mercato, usa e getta, è ora di andare ad ascoltare il nemico pubblico o John Lennon o Led Zeppelin o Nirvana o uno degli innumerevoli artisti che avevano integrità e volevano davvero cambiare il mondo e non solo tirare su 20 dollari da un servizio di streaming mentre l’apocalisse aspetta alla porta. Per favore, musicisti e produttori di musica pop, lo dico a nome dell’umanità, per favore usate il tuo talento e la vostra fama per creare qualcosa che valga davvero la pena ascoltare e che renderà il mondo un posto migliore in cui vivere. Magari andate ad ascoltare “Imagine” o “fight the powe” per trovare ispirazione”

I mean, who should listen to a middle aged guy complain about the state of pop music, right? But, with that caveat, let me state that from my perspective pop music is heart breakingly terrible. Every now and then a slice of fascinating genius, like Love from @kendricklamar , slips through, but for the most part pop music is shallow and trite and unredeemable. There’s nothing wrong with the occasional throw away pop song, but when 99.9% of pop music is utterly cheap and disposable it’s time to go and listen to public enemy or John Lennon or Led Zeppelin or nirvana or any of the countless artists who had integrity and actually wanted to change the world and not just make from a streaming service while the apocalypse waits at the door. Please, pop musicians and producers, I say this on behalf of humanity, please use your talent and fame to make something that’s actually worth listening to and that will make the world a better place to live. Maybe go listen to ‘imagine’ or ‘fight the power’ for inspiration.
