Sherlock, tutto sulla colonna sonora

Andrà in onda dal 9 giugno 2016, su Paramount Channel (canale 27 del digitale terrestre), ogni giovedì alle 21.10, Sherlock, la serie tv liberamente ispirata ai romanzi di Sir Arthur Conan Doyle e che ha come protagonisti il detective Sherlock Holmes e il suo assistente, il dottor Watson, interpretati rispettivamente da Benedict Cumberbatch e Martin Freeman. E’ ambientato nella Londra di oggi e segue la storia di Watson, reduce della guerra in Afghanistan e in cerca del suo posto nel mondo moderno, finché il suo destino si imbatte con l’eccentrico Holmes.

Il tema e le musiche di scena sono state composte da David Arnold e Michael Price. I pezzi sono stati spesso creati utilizzando sintetizzatori, ma le tracce utilizzate per lo show sono state registrate usando veri musicisti “per portare la musica alla vita”.

David Arnold vanta, nel suo curriculum, la lavorazione alle colonne sonore di ben cinque film della saga cinematografica di James Bond, delle pellicole Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996) e Godzilla (1998). Proprio il film Indipendence Day gli ha permesso di conquistare un Grammy Award nella categoria Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television. Insieme al collega, Michael Price, ha vinto un Creative Arts Emmy per il brano “His Last Vow”, presente nell’episodio finale della terza stagione di Sherlock.

Michael Price, invece, è un compositore, produttore, arrangiatore musicale. Ha lavorato come editor musicale per molti celebri film, tra i quali citiamo la trilogia de Il signore degli anelli, Love Actually e Che pasticcio, Bridget Jones!
