La canzone, su Soundscloud, è classificata “Black Country Rock”, e la descrizione è strana quanto la sua nascita: una delle canzoni di David Bowie, Cat People, è stata presa dall’artista country Shooter Jennings e coverizzata con l’aiuto di Marilyn Manson. Una collaborazione che sembra stranissima, ma della quale l’autore parla così:
“Ho invitato Manson ad una festa, e all’improvviso gli ho chiesto se conosceva Cat People, e se voleva registrarne una cover per il mio disco, perchè secondo me sarebbe stato fantastico. E Manson mi disse che quella è la canzone che ogni sera canta prima di salire sul palco, la canzone con cui si scalda la voce. Quindi una notte sono andato a casa sua, alle tre di notte, con tutto il materiale per incidere la canzone. Casa sua è enorme, e assomiglia ad un bordello, e la sua voce aveva una strana eco in tutte le stanze, mentre cantava.”
L’album di cui parla jennings è “Countach (For Giorgio)”, un album di cover che rende onore a Giorgio Moroder, produttore di memorabili brani electro. Cat People è stata prodotta da Moroder per il film del 1982, e poi inclusa nel disco di Bowie “Let’s Dance” nel 1983.
