Demis Roussos è morto: We Shall Dance e Forever and Ever tra le sue hit [video]

Demis Roussos è morto. Il cantante è scomparso a 69 anni e a dare l’annuncio, tra i primi, è stato l’amico Nikos Aliagas dell’edizione francese del talent show The Voice.

Di origini greche, è stato bassista e cantante. Proprio nella sua terra di origine ha iniziato a lavora nella musica, collaborando con i The Idols, We Five e Aphrodite’s Child), prima di iniziare la carriera da solista. Proprio con l’ultimo gruppo, è riuscito ad ottenere una vera e propria fama internazionale grazie a brani di successo e hit come It’s Five O’clock, Rain And Tears, Spring, Summer, Winter And Fall e I Want To Live.

Il tastierista della band, Vangelis Papathanassiou, dopo lo scioglimento del gruppo, divenne famoso proprio componendo colonne sonore con il nome di Vangelis (Blade Runner, Momenti di gloria, ad esempio). Demis ha lavorato con lui in alcuni album solisti.

In Italia, come solista, vinse il Festivalbar nel 1971 con la canzone We shall dance. Seguirono altri pezzi come Forever and Ever -alla numero uno nel 1973- poi My Friend the Wind, My Reason e Lovely Lady of Arcadia.

Sempre nel nostro Paese, è tornato più volte ospite nel programma I migliori anni : il 31 ottobre e 5 dicembre 2008. Successivamente, anche il 5 novembre e il 17 dicembre 2010.

E’ scomparso ad Atene il 25 gennaio 2015. Era, purtroppo, malato da tempo.
