BET Awards 2013, nomination: Drake in testa con 12

I premi per celebrare gli afroamericani e le altre minoranze nei più svariati campi dell’intrattenimento, quali musica, recitazione e sport tra gli altri, stanno per tornare: i BET Awards 2013, istituiti nel 2001 dal canale Black Entertainment Television, saranno trasmessi il 30 Giugno in diretta televisiva dal Nokia Theatre di Los Angeles, naturalmente sul canale di BET. La nuova location va a sostituire quella storica dello Shrine Auditorium che ne aveva ospitato le ultime sei edizioni.

I BET Awards sono considerati i premi più ambiti riservati agli artisti afroamericani che si occupano di musica tradizionalmente black come hip hop, r’n’b, rap e soul, anche se nel corso degli anni ci sono state diverse incursioni di artisti non afroamericani che si dilettano in questi generi musicali, come Justin Timberlake e Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Leader delle nomination è il cantante Drake, che porta a casa ben 12 categorie di cui 5 nell’ambitissima video of the year, sia per i suoi video di Started From the Bottom e HYFR, sia per le collaborazioni nei video dei colleghi A, 2 Chainz e Kendrick Lamar. Drake è un po’ il veterano dei BET, che tendono a concentrarsi molto sulle novità in campo musicale e di intrattenimento, in modo da garantire un qual certo rinnovo nei nomi dei premiati… per quanto la maggior parte delle volte si trovino sempre gli stessi in molte categorie.

La presentazione della serata sarà affidata all’attore e comico Chris Tucker, noto protagonista della serie Rush hour con Jackie Chan. Tra gli artisti che si esibiranno dal vivo durante le premiazioni, confermate le performance di R. Kelly e Chris Brown.
