Il video che vedete in apertura è “Total Eclipse of the Heart“, celebre brano di Bonnie Tyler, particolarmente amato dal sottoscritto.

Oggi, 8 novembre 2012, è il compleanno della cantante e noi di Soundsblog vogliamo omaggiarla con alcune curiosità sul brano che potete ascoltare qui sopra.

Bonnie, nella sua carriera, ha pubblicato 21 album (16 in studio, 1 live e 4 raccolte). Prima di leggere le notizie dopo il salto, un dettaglio che non tutti sanno. Avete presente “The Best” (aka Simply The Best), la canzone resa celebre e famosa in tutto il mondo da Tina Turner? E’ una cover. L’originale appartiene proprio a Bonnie Tyler ma è passata del tutto inosservata.

• E’ una ballad rock scritta da Jim Steinman, originariamente cantata da Bonnie, e pubblicata nel 1983
• Il brano inizialmente era stato ideato per i Meat Loaf. Ma la casa discografica si rifiutò di pagare il lavoro a Steinman. A questo punto lui propose la canzone alla Tyler.
• La sua versione ha venduto circa cinque milioni di copie
• Raggiunse la numero 1 della Billboard Hot 100, vendendo anche 60,000 copie al giorno
• Ci sono state numerosissime cover del pezzo, eccone alcune: Nicki French l’ha reinterpretata in chiave dance, Steve Barton e Elaine Cassler, Westlife, Tori Amos (in alcuni live), in Glee (da Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Mark Salling e Jonathan Groff)
• Utilizzo al cinema e in tv: è presente nei film “American Trip – Il primo viaggio non si scorda mai”, “Old School”, “Diario di una schiappa”, “Bandits”. In tv, Futurama ha visto Kif reinterpretarla al karaoke, Romanzo Criminale (la serie), Criminal Minds e Nip & Tuck.
• In Italia, la cantante L’Aura ha inciso il pezzo in duetto con Nek, intitolandolo Eclissi del Cuore.
