CHVRCHES, la cover di Tightrope di Janelle Monae: video e testo

I CHVRCHES sono una delle rivelazioni dell’anno appena passato: già segnalati a fine 2012 nientemeno che dalla BBC come uno dei gruppi da tenere d’occhio per il 2013, si sono fatti strada lentamente con l’album The Bones Of What You Believe, che li ha messi in lista in tutte le classifiche dei migliori dischi del 2013; inoltre saranno presenti al Coachella 2014, nella seconda serata con i Muse headliner.

In occasione del Billboard Women in Music dello scorso mese, i CHVRCHES si sono lasciati andare alla cover di uno dei pezzi più belli della musica black recente, Tightrope di Janelle Monáe, con la cantante presente che ha riso di fronte alle battute introduttive della cantante Lauren Mayberry preoccupata di fare brutta figura. Il video dell’esibizione è stato reso disponibile: nella versione dei CHVRCHES il brano perde il funk originario per diventare quasi un brano dei Massive Attack. Esperimento interessante.
