Haim: “Quando ci chiamano girl band, lo prendiamo come un insulto”

Alana, Danielle e Esta sono tre sorelle e formano le Haim, band ufficialmente nata nel 2006. Le ragazze, però, in una recente intervista al The Telegraph, hanno rivelato un particolare curioso: odiano essere definite girlband. Ed è proprio Alana a spiegare il motivo di tale astio:

“Crescendo, c’erano un sacco di ragazze artiste come le Spice Girls, Aaliyah e le Destiny Child. Ma nessuna di loro realmente suonava gli strumenti e, invece, vorrei sempre poter puntare e guardare a personaggi come Stevie Nicks e Blondie”

Ha poi continuato

“Perciò io ci vedo semplicemente come una band. Quando le persone ci definiscono una girl band, lo prendo come un insulto – essere una ragazza in una band non dovrebbe essere un oggetto. Sembra una cosa così medievale…”

Le Haim hanno firmato un contratto con la Roc Nation di Jay -Z e il loro album di debutto, uscito a settembre 2013, è arrivato immediatamente al primo posto della classifica inglese.
