Nemesis è un brano di Benjamin Clementine, pubblicato nel 2015.

Cresciuto a Londra, si è trasferito poi in Francia, esibendosi anche come artista di strada. Nel 2013 c’è stato il suo debutto assoluto in televisione, mossa che gli ha permesso di essere conosciuto maggiormente dal grande pubblico. E’ stato ospite di Later with Jools Holland, un programma della BBC.

Il disco di debutto è stato rilasciato due anni dopo, nel 2015, e si intitolava “At Least For Now”.

La nemesi è simbolo della personificazione della giustizia, a livello personale, sociale e politico. Nei tempi moderni, viene intesa come punitrice della tirannide e dell’egocentrismo. Nella canzone, Clementine sottolinea lo slancio e l’interessa verso l’altra persona: se avesse trattenuto il fiato per lei, sarebbe morto migliaia di volte e non avrebbe più denti se masticare fosse servito per mostrarle quanto ci tiene a lei. Ma è difficile da raggiungere, da conquistare, e la nemesi viene proprio invocata come alternativa, come risoluzione di questo limbo ambiguo.
