NME Awards 2014, ecco le nomination dominate da Arctic Monkeys e Haim

Drizzate le antenne e sbizzarritevi con le previsioni di rito, voi adepti della Setta indie: la Bibbia di settore NME ha ufficializzato le nomination agli Awards 2014, rinnovando una volta ancora la nobile tradizione che si ripete fin dal lontano 1953. Le sestine di contendenti sono composte e immediatamente votabili dagli iscritti al sito web ufficiale del magazine britannico, e come al solito c’è da divertirsi parecchio, tra allori da consegnare ai migliori e cazzotti da sferrare -solo in senso metaforico- ai peggiori.

Gli Arctic Monkeys fanno la parte del leone (anche) questo giro. Sono la bellezza di otto le categorie in cui duellerà il sodalizio capitanato da Alex Turner, incluse le più ambìte in assoluto: miglior band di casa, miglior album, miglior pezzo e miglior video. Notizia sorprendente? Manco per niente, se è vero (com’è vero) che poche settimane addietro AM -recensito da SoundsBlog a questo indirizzo– veniva proclamato miglior disco del 2013 dalla stessa testata e due singoli da esso estratti (Do I Wanna Know? terzo, Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? 32esimo) finivano tra i Magnifici 50.

Poco cavallerescamente ma molto prestigiosamente, i quattro talentuosi ceffi di Sheffield distanziano le statunitensi Haim “ferme” -si fa per dire- a quota 6 nomine; seguono poi Lily Allen, gli Arcade Fire, i Queens Of The Stone Age, Kanye West, i Savages e Morrissey con tre nomination ciascuno.
